Artist Band Mavericks

The God Of Hellfire

The God Of Hellfire
Wildly eccentric even by the standards of an oddball period in British rock history, singer Arthur Brown made a splash on that country`s mid-1960s music scene performing his signature 1968 hit song, Fire, while dancing, dervish-like, clad in a flaming helmet. Though this was unfortunately to prove the pinnacle of his career, his ongoing theatricality artist band mavericks and maverick musical sensibility later influenced artists from George Clinton to Peter Gabriel. Polly Marshall`s informative artist band mavericks and entertaining biography follows Brown from early `60s shows in Paris, where his instinct for theatricality first surfaced, to his tempestuous days with his bands the Crazy World Of Arthur Brown artist band mavericks and Kingdom Come. Marshall documents the decreasing popularity of Brown`s interactive multi-media approach in subsequent decades when audiences had grown more accustomed to pre-packaged performances. Brown`s artistic resurgence in the 1990s, with performances throughout Europe appealing to multi-generational audiences, is all the more extraordinary for his single-minded adherence to precisely the same artistic vision he set out with decades earlier.
